The Widnes Wasps
Ladies running Club story
Widnes Wasps Ladies Running Club was established in 1987, by eight women who started jogging in Victoria Park, Widnes. Now, over 30 years later the club has established itself as an enduring sports clubs in Halton that continues to celebrate the achievements of all of its members.
One of the few all-female running clubs in the UK we attract members from a wide surrounding area, including Widnes, Runcorn, Warrington, St Helens, Prescot, Huyton, Frodhsam and Helsby.
We now have up to 50 members, ranging in age from 18-70+, whose abilities span from running 5 kilometres to ultra marathons.
We’re always looking to welcome new members and we promise to make you feel very welcome.
Plus, all members benefit from us being an affiliated England Athletics Club.
We don't take ourselves too seriously. It's all about taking part, keeping fit and having fun. We are very much a social running club.
We sometimes meet for a drink in the clubhouse following our Tuesday night run and we host several social events for our members throughout the year. Our annual presentation ceremony in June and our Christmas night out are always highlights of the calendar.
We welcome runners of all abilities and aim to provide a safe and friendly environment for female runners to progress under the guidance of our experienced members.
