About Us

If you’ve always wanted to give running a try, or you’re looking for your next challenge, Widnes Wasps Ladies Running Club will be there to help you get on your way

Our story

Widnes Wasps Ladies Running Club was established in 1987, by eight women who started jogging in Victoria Park, Widnes. Now, over 30 years later the club has established itself as an enduring sports clubs in Halton that continues to celebrate the achievements of all of its members.

One of the few all-female running clubs in the UK we attract members from a wide surrounding area, including Widnes, Runcorn, Warrington, St Helens, Prescot, Huyton, Frodhsam and Helsby.

We now have approximately 50+ members, ranging in age from 18-70+, whose abilities span from running 5 kilometres to ultra marathons.

We’re always looking to welcome new members and we promise to make you feel very welcome. Plus, all members benefit from us being an affiliated England Athletics Club.

We don’t take ourselves too seriously. It’s all about taking part, keeping fit and having fun. We are very much a social running club. We quite often meet for a drink on the last Tuesday of each month following our usual club night run and host several social events for our members throughout the year.

We welcome runners of all abilities and aim to provide a safe and friendly environment for female runners to progress under the guidance of our experienced members.
